Cancer: Can the Dead Really Speak to Us?

Yes they can, but more importantly, what are they telling us?

There is an amazing promise in the Old Testament section of the Bible that works for anyone that heads it. It is found in the book of Exodus, chapter 15 and verse 26, and it says, “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt to that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee which I have brought upon the Egyptian, for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Exodus 15: 26.

This promise has importance to us today. After all, did the Egyptians have diseases that we have today? They were the same diseases we need deliverance from today! Ancient mummified bodies of kings, queens, and ‘lesser sorts,’ contemporaries with the biblical era, have been studied by paleopathologists (those who study ancient diseases) and have found that they were dying of the same diseases which are taking the lives of millions in the USA today. The diseases they found in the mommies were heart disease, diabetes, cancer, respitory, various forms of arthritis, senility, and many more, all common today. Seeing then that God promised to protect us from these diseases if we ware obedient, the total lives that would be saved annually would be amazing, at least 2.5 million if not more.

What does this mean? It means that there would be one less funeral every 20 second and  4,320 unnecessary funerals daily (this figure represents only those dying from cancer and heart disease – the top 2 killers in the USA today). Many people are left helpless, lonely, grief stricken, at the loss of their companions just because of these lifestyle related diseases which are preventable, and benefiting form the wonderful promises of God. Unfortunately this promise for physical, mental and spiritual health is not highly regarded by many people today. As a result, despite the advances in medical science today, the health of the American people is getting worse not better. Our country leads the world in degenerative diseases. This represents an average of $395+ million a day lost from work; $225+ million a day lost in school absences; and the total cost of health care in this country exceeds 2.4 trillion (2009 By Emily P. Walker, Washington Correspondent, MedPage Today Published: February 24, 2009).

Many people who suffer from cancer and other lifestyle related diseases are not only battling the disease itself to stay alive but also battling the treatments they undergo such as radiation and chemotherapy. And research shows that they aren’t really living any longer than if they chose to do nothing for their disease.

As Americans, is there anything that we can do to reduce our risk of cancer and other disease of our time? In 1987, C. Everett Koop, then U.S. Surgeon General, warned us that 2.1 million Americans who died annually, nearly 1.5 million were killed by their poor diets. There have been so many research  studies done over the last 50 years that have shown that changes in lifestyle, especially diet, can significantly decrease your chances of contracting disease and increase our health and life expectancy. The National Cancer Institute stated, “ Changing the way we eat could offer some protection against cancer,” and has made the area of diet its principle area of research in cancer prevention. In 1983, the American Cancer Society stated that, “A greater use of fruits and vegetables can reduce a person’s risk of developing cancer.” So if a better lifestyle can improve our chances of successfully reducing our risk of developing cancer, what is so desperately needed is a 180° direction change in our lifestyle, a change that would be in harmony with God’s original plan for us in the beginning. God gave man a moral law to protect us spiritually, but He also gave us laws that would protect us physically and mentally as well. We call these the 8 – Laws of Health. One of these laws I have already discussed in another article on the subject of sunlight. Stay tuned for the other 7 laws.
